Recently, the developer that created my theme sold his company who promptly discontinued the Destin theme I was using. I jumped onto the Divi bandwagon, which comes with a steep and frustrating learning curve, but I’m getting the hang of it.

Since I’ve been running my dance music podcast for 12 years now, I wanted to search out inspiration for my design layout. While I understand these podcasts are about WordPress and Divi, their layouts are less than inspirational (if not downright dismal).

Frankly, looking at their websites makes one wonder as to the credibility of the people behind the podcasts regarding the subject matter. In many instances, there’s no indication the site is even a podcast.

In most instances, my podcast website is people’s first encounter before subscribing via their favorite streaming platform. Since my site is a quasi blog-podcast where I muse about whatever I want in my daily life or the dance music industry in general, many continue to subscribe via email for updates. It’s a balancing act of hooking the new user into my ecosystem, which requires a lot of inspiration during their initial encounter.

There isn’t really anyone that does what I do, so I try to pull from a variety of websites, layouts, and designs to see what I can do to make my site stand out. This is an ongoing process that will take several weeks but for now, these examples leave me unimpressed, even if the subject matter is of interest.
